Desert Cyborg Chapter 1: AND GATE
|System suggests listening to “Waves – A Chillwave Mix” while reading CHAPTER ONE
The sun is hot. It shines here 3 to 4 days at its highest peak. In the dry dusty ground, sand blows up to the sky in a straight line. What appears to be a vehicle is traveling at incredible speed. It’s a man. Not much man is left of this being. He went through different augmentations in the limbs and torso. He has a relaxed face as he makes a fast rattling sound with his legs. The wind blows in his one eye and stil natural blond hair.
He squeezes his eye to activate the program in his central cortex. His vision zooms in towards his destination. The Nightgalles. It’s an iridium mine by the galaxies federation. Tower like structures protect this city. To get to the city with outdated gear is not possible and every 4 days the bravest cyborgs try their luck. It is not a high reward on earth because water is everywhere. Here on Centurus 7 it’s more valuable than 1000 pounds of gold.
C-137.2 is going straight towards the center point of the Nightgalles. What for other cyborgs looks like an uncalculated way is for him the best chance. He has his own A.I. algorithm that has way more info than the others their 73 years of data. The way this can be explained is like a gold miner. The gold miner knows that owning gold is just as important as knowing were to find it. In the case of C-137.2, has new info on the iridium mines. A capsule of 20cl of pure water is hidden in one of the nightgalles. A previous hunter hid it there before getting blown by away.C-137.2 stops running. He reloads his calves with fully charged ones. A reloading gun sound drops his fast running calve on the ground. The heat makes a loud hissing sound. He holds his tactical maneuvering one in his hand and looks towards the dark side of the planet.”am I sure this will work? Should I really trust that outdated info? Well, there is only one way to know.” With determination he clicks in his trusty legs.
“Let’s do this.”
The nightghalles charge up their power and overload their crystal battery until a powerfull beam shoots out their lenses. Each time they fire they have to recharge and drop down for 2 seconds. The info C-137.2 has says that his gear can out maneuver the ghalles until the 24 defense line. While running straight at the center he quickly evades the first beam. A sharp turn to the right followed by a sharp turn to the left back on course. He passes the first ghalle. The 2 in line start to overload. Bzzzzz! He jumps up while both lasers cross their trajectory. The first ghalle has to turn around and recover. The following have to reload. This is the dead zone. His CPU can now calculate for 1.75 seconds. The next 3 are up. 1.5 seconds of calculation are followed. Till the 4th line calculations get less than one second. 0.075,0.00025,0.0000125,0.00000075
At the 5th line he activates his scanner. For a radius of 5 towers he gets his own personal imprint of the map. As a veteran knowledge seeker this makes him very excited and loses control due to a dose of dopamine injected in his brain. His data gets corrupted and he sees “it”. The infinite possibilities rushing in his head. He has seen this before but it is not his CPU nor his brain. It is beyond his mind. Time seems to have very little or no effect. As it is, so it is. Past, present and future together in one moment. He senses danger. “oh…” a beam directly by his face. His maneuver gear automatically refs in action and evades the possible threat. but it feels all very slow. Like he’s in dense liquid. While his body moves he notices a thought rising before it has manifested in his brain. It had already past him before he could reflect on it. “Wonderful” he thought “This is my mind?” He evades the beam while the calculations on his screen slowly tick. Lines of trajectory are highlighted in blue and red. He slowly follows the green line while his mind suggests it is a fast route. “But there are infinite blue routes, which one should I use?” His mind suggests making a calm decision. Immediately the routes disappear and there is a choice out of blue and green. Green being a save route to the right and blue the fast route. He reaches out his hand grabbing the two lines and decides “Both”
A yellow line goes straight through the next nightghalle. Here he goes full speed ahead. He notices right after the dust had cleared that he was rattling his way into a wall of a ghalle. He braces for impact and crashes straight through the wall. His system starts the damage report while he pulls himself up. The nightghalle’s eye turns inside and commences the lockdown procedure. A wall of red prism traps him inside. He can’t escape. While in a panic C-137.2 looks around and lying next to him is the runner he got the data from.
In the mechanical arm there is 20cl of pure water.
