Channeling: from the Fox sisters to ChatGPT
Channelers say a non-physical source, such as a spirit, an entity, an angel or a “higher self”, speaks or writes through them. This page covers where the practice comes from, who the big names are online, what they charge, the Belgian scene and what the evidence says.
Channeled messages are presented here as beliefs. No scientific study has shown that they come from outside the channeler.

A short history
Two modes are common: trance channeling, where the channeler says they step aside and the entity speaks in another voice, and conscious channeling, where they stay aware and relay or write what they receive. It overlaps with mediumship (messages from the dead), tarot “guidance” and “starseed” content.

AI as a “spirit guide”

Belgium and Brussels
A small sample of local practitioners, with prices from their own pages. This is not a full list and not an endorsement; most of them describe mediumship rather than channeling.
| Practitioner | Area | What | Price |

| De Zin van Onzin | Online | Written channeled answers | €5 per question |
| Ilse Van Hevel | Roeselare | Healing via channeling, 60 min | €70 |
| Hartsbron | Geraardsbergen, remote | “Frequency” sessions | €30 per session |
| Cristalline Guidance | Brussels, online | Tarot and “canalisation” | €70 an hour |
| Delphine Roshardt | Ixelles, Wepion, online | Mediumistic guidance | €90 an hour |
| Dominique Bustraen | Brabant wallon, Brussels | Medium | €100 an hour |
| Jasmien Gerits | Hasselt area, Zoom | Mediumship; reduced rate via Venna VZW | €135 (€20 reduced) |
What the evidence says
| Point | What is known |
|---|---|
| No scientific support | No controlled study has shown that channeled messages come from an outside source. Early psychical researchers (Hudson 1892, Flournoy 1911) explained mediumship by suggestion, and cold reading can produce information that seems personal (Wikipedia). |
| Fraud in the history | Investigations found widespread fraud in 19th-century Spiritualism; the Fox sisters admitted a hoax in 1888, then recanted (Wikipedia). |
| Disputed groups | Critics, including former members, have called Ramtha’s School a cult; the school disputes this (Wikipedia). Skeptical Inquirer argues the Abraham-Hicks teaching can encourage magical thinking (article); followers see it as motivational. |
| Collective readings | They are written so that many viewers feel addressed (“take what resonates”). That is fine as reflection, not as a personal prediction. |
